Finally, what I could not do while writing my essay, I can finally do here. The topic of littering is a very annoying to me. The fact that there is so much and we keep the topic of it on the downlow is crazy. In case you have never heard, there is even a part of the ocean that is just coated with litter. And what is worse is that the people that do it with no care in the world, Like what do their houses look like if they throw trash out of their car? And there are the people who throw stuff out of their cars because they cannot wait to throw it away. One of the most littered substances on earth are cigarette butts. They are EVERYWHERE. They are in the ocean, along roadsides, in urban regions, but they are in more places they should NOT be than places they should be. My sources should help with my thesis because a lot of them share knowledge of how bad littering has gotten and what happens to our planet because of it. Not just to us but to the plants and animals. I understand that not everyone is perfect but we should at least be more mindful. I am not exactly saying we should all recycle but it would help but any trash is better than wherever. A key example I can share was when I was back-packing Europe a few summers back. I believe I was in the city of Hamburg, Germany at the time and I was walking through the streets and I want to point out that it was a fairly big city, some big buildings and very busy. It was a very nice city, relatable to Cleveland in some ways, but one thing to me stuck out to me that I noticed and that was all the trash on the ground. They had glass broken all over the streets and cans and cigarette butts all over the ground. If people had pets, their fecies was also there ( at least I hoped it was their pets). Like I did not think to much of it but it was enough for me to say something to my friend about it and for me to remember clearly how dirty it looked. It would have been more visually pleasing to see it cleaned up. I will say at the time they had a riot due to the climate control and what President Trump was doing. They even had littered stickers and signs everywhere that said “Truck Fump”, but all that is another interesting story for another time. Getting back to my topic of littering, it is just as I said in my intro, an eye sore and I hate looking at it cause things can look better without it. My essay is going to dive more in depth with litter and the forms of it, why people do it, what happens to our planet because of it, how to reduce it, and maybe more stuff as it presents itself. I do not know if others think of it as I do within our class but to me it is a burden to watch or hear about people who abuse something as simple as throwing something properly.
